Helping You Permanently Discharge Debts in Bankruptcy

If you face unmanageable debt, a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing can help you get a fresh financial start. When you file for protection under Chapter 7, your creditors are prohibited from calling, writing or taking any other legal action to collect a debt. In addition, you may be allowed to permanently discharge certain debts in exchange for the sale of some of your assets.

At Bailey & Galyen, our lawyers bring extensive experience to individuals across Texas who want to permanently discharge debts through a Chapter 7 bankruptcy proceeding. In our years of practice, we have maintained a strong commitment to personal service and attention, as well as a dedication to follow the highest standards of practice within our profession. We believe that communication is essential to the successful resolution of your case, and will take the time to carefully listen to all your concerns and questions, so that we can take the steps necessary to meet your goals. We will keep you informed of any developments in your case, as well as your options, so that you can make educated decisions about how you want to proceed. We will also give you a realistic assessment of your chances of success, so that you always know what to expect.

Our attorneys provide a free initial consultation to Chapter 7 bankruptcy clients. For an appointment, contact our office or call us at  844-402-3900. .

Our Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Practice

When you hire us to help you determine the best course of action in bankruptcy, we will first take the time to learn as much as we can about your financial situation. The bankruptcy laws changed in 2005, making it more difficult to qualify for a Chapter 7 filing. To be eligible, you must now submit to a “means test,” demonstrating to the court that you lack the means to repay your creditors over a 3 to 5 year period.

We will walk you through the means test, so that you know whether you have the option of permanently discharging debts. If you qualify, we will prepare and file all the documents necessary to complete the process, and will represent you in meetings or hearings with creditors, the bankruptcy trustee, or the court.

Before you file, we will help you understand which debts can be discharged, and which cannot, such as certain tax obligations, student loan payments or child support arrearages. We will also make certain you understand what property will be exempt from sale, so that you get the results you need.
