Our Alimony Practice
In Texas, alimony or spousal support may be granted on a discretionary basis, with the court considering a multitude of factors, such as
• the length of the marriage
• the age and health of both parties
• the education and employability of each spouse
• the needs of the receiving spouse and the ability to pay of the other party
• the contribution by one spouse to the education or earning capacity of the other
• any marital misconduct by either party
The court may grant temporary or permanent alimony, or may grant alimony for a period of time necessary to allow the other party to obtain the training or education to become self-sufficient.
At Bailey & Galyen, we will represent either party in a dispute involving spousal support or alimony. We will help you determine whether spousal support is necessary and, if so, how much should be granted and for how long.
