Handling Spousal Maintenance throughout Texas

If you are considering divorce or involved in a divorce proceeding and have concerns about whether or not alimony will be granted, you want an experienced lawyer to protect your rights. There is no automatic grant of spousal maintenance in Texas. The court will consider many factors when evaluating whether alimony is warranted. You want an attorney who understands the law and the process, one who has represented others in similar situations.

Throughout our history, we have maintained a strong commitment to personal service and attention, as well as a dedication to follow the highest standards of practice within our profession. We believe that communication is essential to the successful resolution of your case, and will take the time to carefully listen to all your concerns and questions, so that we can take the steps necessary to meet your goals. We will keep you informed of any developments in your case, as well as your options, so that you can make educated decisions about how you want to proceed. We will also give you a realistic assessment of your chances of success, so that you always know what to expect.

Our attorneys provide a free initial consultation to men and women with concerns about alimony or spousal maintenance. For an appointment, contact our office or call us at one of the numbers listed below.

Our Alimony Practice

In Texas, alimony or spousal support may be granted on a discretionary basis, with the court considering a multitude of factors, such as

• the length of the marriage

• the age and health of both parties

• the education and employability of each spouse

• the needs of the receiving spouse and the ability to pay of the other party

• the contribution by one spouse to the education or earning capacity of the other

• any marital misconduct by either party

The court may grant temporary or permanent alimony, or may grant alimony for a period of time necessary to allow the other party to obtain the training or education to become self-sufficient.

At Bailey & Galyen, we will represent either party in a dispute involving spousal support or alimony. We will help you determine whether spousal support is necessary and, if so, how much should be granted and for how long.
