MR. MATTHEW STEWART: Initial determinations of disability are made by the State Agency of any given state. In Texas it will be made in Austin. If you are denied those Appeals are handled locally. If you live in Houston, Texas you will go to a hearing in Houston. If you live in Fort Worth, Texas you will have a hearing held in Fort Worth. If you live outside those areas, you might have a Judge travel to your area occasionally and the hearing will be held locally.
